After reading Kevin Chan's blog on 19 September, I think I must also follow suit and release some agonies I contain. (Oh to Kevin, cheer up too!)
You might have noticed I was quite emotional like this week in school- well, just don't ask. I have just learnt a realisitc and powerful theory. "If you slack, you will definitely not be recognised or get the things you want; but if you put in lots of hard work, you still might not get what you deserve truly."
Welcome to the real world of facades. I shan't say any more.
Well luckily, I have other things to cheer me up in my life. For instance, Leadership Development Programme!! At least I have something to look forward to every week after days and days of lessons... I think I am very lucky because I have a capable friend in my group and our project will definitely be successful!!
Wish for a better life in school...

A picture of my boarding room! Haha okay I should go sleep!

There comes a time
When we head a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
And it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all
We can't go on
Pretneding day by day
That someone, somewhere will soon make a change
We are all a part of
God's great big family
And the truth, you know love is all we need
[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me
Send them your heart
So they'll know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stone to bread
So we all must lend a helping hand
[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me
When you're down and out
There seems no hope at all
But if you just believe
There's no way we can fall
Well, well, well, well, let us realize
That a change will only come
When we stand together as one
[Chorus]
We are the world
We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

I thought I should have to write something here, as it has been plentifully bestrewn with virtual dust.
Michael Jackson lived from 1959 to 2009, bringing his lifespan to 50 years, and is one of the most renowned musicians in the world, having made a significant contribution to the world of music.

.
Jackson in 1984 (from wikipedia.com)
A question we must ask ourselves: what do we think of him?
Some may envisage him as a madman, other might regard him as a popular artist of the 20th century.
However, I respect him as a talented artist and a great contributor to the world. He died just after 50 years of his life due to a cardiac arrest. 50 years is definitely not a boundless period of time. If I had 50 years of life, I would already dwindled 15 years of time and had 35 more years to go. Time is essential- why don't we use time like how Michael did and make the world a happier place?
Rest in peace.
On a happier or rather scarier note, I went to watch "Drag Me to Hell" with two good friends and I must say it was quite abhorrent and intimidating. How I regret watching The Grudge in the morning... Furthermore, I experienced the abundance and solidity of bread in Cafe Cartel. The pasta and ice-cream were delicious though!
A weak attempt at revival of the blog.

I am totally impressed by this man Ludwig Van Beethoven. I must say totally.
This man is one of the greatest and most prodigious composers in the world. He is human like all of us. However, he composed a total of 32 piano sonatas. 10 violin sonatas and many pieces of euphonious work. His innate aptness of music is held in high esteem, however it is his individuality of doggedness and pertinacity that we are all deeply impressed by.
Beethoven's encroaching deafness greatly affected his life, but this did not deter him from more musical compositions. He continued to compose till his last breath at his deathbed. This display of obstinacy was the main reason why I greatly admired this noble composer.
His musical compositions are not any piece of work which is facile; every piece of work requires a proficiency derived from countless rounds of practicing. The intricacy of each composition is so impressive, how could this piece of music be contrived by a human?
Beethoven had made a consequential impact into the diverse world of music. He together with the past composers have all made the musical world we live in now. The sonatas and concertos we play in concert halls are composed by them. Famous orchestra music are also their ingenious inventions. I am grateful to these people, for providing the world with mellifluous sounds, which the world will listen and appreciate eternally.

Splitter splatter splitter splatter splitter splatter...
It was raining heavily approximately two hours ago. As I heard the reverberation of the raindrops hitting the floor softly, my mind was calmer and more reflective...
Today was the Qingming Festival, or rather known as Tomb Sweeping Day. Well, I confess that my mind was thinking of a number of things despite the early time I woke up.
Firstly, I was thinking of the number of years before I assume the role of a seasoned veteran, have strands of white hair and come pay respects to my parents like my grandparents now.
Secondly, the thought of me lying in that tomb lingered in my mind. How long would it take, for all the roles to be changed, from the non-existent to the young, the young to the middle-aged, the middle aged to the old, and the old to the dead?
Death is indeed and will always be a part of life we have to embrace, be it with open arms, or struggling resistance. It is not necessary for us to look forward to it with fervent anticipation, but at least with an open mind.
Today's heavy rain really fits with the context of this poem...
清明时节雨纷纷,
路上行人欲断魂。
借问酒家何处有,
牧童谣指杏花村。
I am sorry if you don't understand chinese...

'You believe in yourself. You REALLY believe in yourself. You think it is very abnormal to not have a stressful education. You have your career plan mapped out since your first semester in Secondary One. You like the color of your uniform so much that many of you wear that uniform for life. You believe that you reap what you sow and human ingenuity is limitless. In your quiet moments, you think "I deserve to be lucky!" '
I like the part where we wear that uniform for life. Is that a possible hint that we are going to be all in PAP? However, I think it is very abnormal to have a stressful education...
I am finally done...
P.S. It has been a good 1 month and 12 days already :)

Now it is midnight, thus making now Friday the 13th. This date is interesting but yet ominous at the same time. This year, there will be 3 of such days being in February, March and November respectively. I wonder however, if this day is a day of bad luck or good luck, for I have a school day off on this particular day.
On another note...
"Hypocrisy in anything whatever may deceive the cleverest and most penetrating man, but the least wide-awake of children recognizes it, and is revolted by it, however ingeniously it may be disguised."
This is I think, a very accurate representation of hypocrisy. However, this should be the common definition.
"Hypocrisy is acting in a manner contradictory to one's professed beliefs and feelings, or conversely, expressing false beliefs and opinions in order to conceal one's real feelings or motives. For example, a smoker would be hypocritical if he or she were to criticize someone else for smoking cigarettes. The term hypocrisy is often used in a religious context to refer to someone who gives a false appearance of virtue or religion, or does not practice what he or she preaches."
The presence of hypocrites in the modern society is surprisingly ubiquitous. Guarding against hypocrites and their acts of hypocrisy is as tough as recognizing them at the first meeting. In my opinion, even the first meeting would be deemed obnoxious.
I feel their presence strongly in school. Their physical presence isn't much, but it's their hypocrisy that makes a significant yet negative difference in the atmosphere.
Even on MSN, I experience hypocrites, again.(not everybody) What a hypocritical society we have.
It's late now, but I have finished writing this post.

Time flies fast this year. I wonder is due to the fact that our legs are covered by pieces of white fabric or that there are new changes in our teachers. Everyday seems to be passing in slow motion, but if you look at it as a whole, the whole term seems to pass at a seemingly alarming and surprisingly rapid rate.
School seems like, or rather is, an everyday tiresome chore. Lessons seem ordinary and insipid, which my foreign scholar friends explicitly display in their naps in class. Everyday seems to be repetitive. However, life can be interesting with many colours. After all, life is not measured in the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.
Whenever I see old people on the streets walking, I wonder to myself, how much time I would take to reach to that particular stage of rich experience and a seasoned mindset; and to put it bluntly, a stage where death is near . My deathbed might seem eternally far, but a few decades won't seem long. I look around now, I see all my friends live and healthy, all young and well; I imagine to myself, when time passes, how all these faces will grow old and wrinkled, how the liveliness will change to stillness. It seems very far when I see these old people, it does seem a long journey to go, but it will come one day, just somehow.
The time in my life seems a lot, but is actually a limited amount. Time is after all precious and in fact the most precious. This amount of time we are given can be as dull as gray, but can be as colourful as a rainbow. The promise I make to myself now is : when I finally lie on my deathbed, taking in my last breath of air and sieving through the experiences of my life, I hope to see a great display of memories before I depart into the darkness...
Life is not all about how long it is, but how wonderful and meaningful it is...

School Song
When Stamford Raffles held the torch
Then cast Promethean Flame
We faced the challenge of the day
To give our school a name
The eagle eye and gryphon strength
They led us to the fore
To reign supreme in ev'ry sphere
The sons of Singapore
Come heed the call Rafflesians all
And let our hearts be stirring
We'll do our best whate'er the test
And keep our colours flying
Let comradeship and fervent hope
With one voice make us pray
Auspicium Melioris Aevi
With God to guide the way
UNITE---Raffles Sacred Cheer
(Rhythm is 3-beat. Stomp with foot on the first beat.
Slap thighs for first two beats and clap on third.)
(Start Rhythm) 5...6...7...8
Rafflesians unite, we'll show our might! ...
We'll show them how Rafflesians fight! ...
We'll walk to the fight in green black white,
'Cos ain't nobody's gonna break our stride
'Cos we're for we're for Raffles ooh Raffles ahh (x2)
We'll fight in the sun we'll fight in the rain! ...
We'll fight to give our school a name ...
We'll walk from the game with pride and fame,
'Cos we feel no fear and we feel no pain
'Cos we're for we're for Raffles ooh Raffles ahh
We're for We're for Raffles YEAH!
